RAGNAR Chicago 2016 is in the books!

What a long, hot weekend! I’m proud to say our 12-woman team once again completed RAGNAR Chicago.

Despite the brutally hot weather and a two-hour lightning delay, we still dragged ourselves across the finish line Saturday, June 11, after 36 hours of relay excitement.

When you put that many personalities together in close proximity for that long, there’s always going to be a little bit of tension. But the cool thing about our group is that we can let it go and recognize that the person who snaps was either hangry, tired, or experiencing other physical or emotional difficulties.

Runners are intuitive – we know when to leave each other alone and when to rally together.

We earned our medals and swag, killed an iPhone, and ate Uncrustables until we all nearly vomited. We woke up early, ran in the dark, and catnapped in a public park. We shared toilets with total strangers and perfected the art of thrown magnet tagging.

Running a RAGNAR is like getting a tattoo. One isn’t enough. You keep going back for more – and we’ll surely be back next year. I’ve heard Tennessee has a beautiful course 🙂
